Hybrid Golf Club Sets

Hybrid golf club sets are one of the more recent technological innovations in this game of the game of golf.   The hybrid golf club is a club that mixes the accuracy of your wood with the feel of an iron.  The name emanates from merging the design of golf irons with the dependability and precision of woods.  More and more golfers are incorporating the hybrid set of clubs in their golfing arsenal.  If you are like me and you like to relax and watch some of the PGA golf tour on the tv, you will note a large proportion of the pros are now using the hybrid golf club.

Because the clubhead and also clubface of a hybrid golf club are exactly like your wood then the contact you’ll get will be similar.  A high launch angle with a lot of backspin enables you to strike long shots right into a green which can stop on the green without rolling off the back of the green.   When addressing the hybrid golf club shot, you need to play it a little further forward in your stance than you would with a long iron. You need to do this because you need to hit down on the ball when using a hybrid and just let the club do the rest of the work. You can even use it off the tee,  just tee it up and let give a crack!

When is the most appropriate time to pull the hybrid out of the bag?   Well firstly if you are hemmed in and have a long accurate shot to play to a green then that is one time that I would choose a hybrid.   As hybrids are made to be more consistent than irons this would be ideal and you also have a very good chance of stopping the ball on the green.   Another instance where the hybrid golf club is when you are playing out of the rough.  Because of the extra weight in the clubhead and its shape,  it cuts through the long grass easier than an iron and you are more likely to get a good contact and smack the ball a good distance.  If there is a hazard in front of the green a hybrid is also very useful as it hits the ball higher than an iron and you have a chance of stopping the ball quicker and still hitting the green giving yourself a birdie chance.

Hybrids have certainly helped me take a few strokes off my game.  I believe everyone should have a hybrid golf club set that they can call their own.
